The wine shows a deep ruby red color with nuances of purplish red, little transparency. Intense and complex aromas of fruit, black cherry, plum and black currant, as well as pleasant mineral and smoky notes. In the mouth it has good correspondence to the nose, very balanced, with agreeable tannins, full body and a nice long finish. Perfect with first courses with meat or cheese sauces, game, braised and stewed meat, roasted meat and hard cheeses.
2005 vintage:
90 points, Wine Advocate:
"reveals a big, chewy personality with generous dark fruit, spices, and toasted oak in a very pure, compelling style. The use of oak appears to be more refined than the 2004, and the 2005 will likely offer better balance than its older sibling once it settles down a bit in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015."
